[Interpretation/Ideation] Sum6

[Interpretation/Ideation] Sum6

Aliases

  • Sum6
  • sum of six special scores
  • six special scores total

Definition

Sum6 is the simple total of responses counted within the six thought-related special scores. It is used to estimate how often cognitive oddities, verbal deviations, or problematic ideational combinations appear in the protocol.

Interpretation

  • High Sum6 suggests a greater frequency of cognitive peculiarities within the protocol.
  • It is a quantity index, not a severity judgment by itself.
  • In adult protocols, a clearly elevated value calls for closer review of thought organization.
  • Its meaning becomes more precise when compared with Lv2 and WSum6.

Cautions

  • If R is high, part of the increase may simply reflect more chances to accumulate special scores.
  • High Sum6 with mostly level-1 responses does not carry the same weight as a profile with multiple level-2 responses.
  • If Lv2, CONTAM, or M- are also present, interpretation should become more cautious.
