- depression index
Definition
DEPI is a composite index that summarizes how many signs in the protocol point toward depressive features.
It integrates variables from affect, burden, negative self-image, and emotional withdrawal.
Interpretation
- If
DEPIis positive, discouragement, hopelessness, guilt, and loss of energy should be reviewed more closely. - The index gains meaning when it appears together with
SumV,SumY,MOR_self, and alteredAfr. - It may suggest a probable depressive pattern, but it does not by itself define a major depressive episode.
- If
CDIis also positive, vulnerability may be mixed with a stronger sense of helplessness.
Cautions
- A positive
DEPIis not automatically a formal diagnosis. - A negative
DEPIdoes not exclude depression. - Life context, grief, and recent stress can influence the constellation.
Cross References
- The base variables should be reviewed before fixing a clinical conclusion.
- It should be integrated with
Affect,SumV,SumY,MOR_self, andCDI.
