Aliases

- animal detail
- partial animal
Definition
Ad is coded when the response names a part or detail of an animal rather than the whole animal.
It covers a tail, head, wing, claw, or other clearly partial animal feature.
Conditions
- The focus of the response must be on a part of the animal, not on the whole figure.
- The detail may be external, such as a paw or head, as long as it stays a partial animal feature.
- If the figure is a whole realistic animal, first consider scoring-input/contents/A.
- If the detail belongs to a fantastic or imaginary animal, first consider scoring-input/contents/(Ad).
- If the emphasis is on anatomy or internal structure, first consider scoring-input/contents/An.
Cautions
Adand scoring-input/contents/A are separated by part versus whole.Adand scoring-input/contents/(Ad) are separated by reality versus fantasy.Adand scoring-input/contents/Hd are both detail codes, but one is animal and the other is human.- Not every biological fragment is
Ad; if the idea is strongly anatomical, scoring-input/contents/An may be the better fit.
