Aliases

- (2)
- pair response
- symmetry pair
Definition
(2) is used when the person perceives two identical objects from the symmetry of the card.
The key is not just that there are two things, but that they are treated as an equivalent pair derived from symmetrical organization.
Conditions
- The response describes two identical or essentially equivalent objects.
- The perception of the pair depends on card symmetry.
- Add the code when the idea of a pair is a real part of what the person saw.
- Base the decision on the response and inquiry, not on examiner inference alone.
Cautions
Pairis not assigned simply because two different objects appear in the response.- If the response depends on reflection, first distinguish it from scoring-input/determinants/Fr or scoring-input/determinants/rF.
(2)is a coding decision; its interpretive meaning is reviewed later in the Egocentricity Index.- Not every bilateral or doubled response deserves
(2); the two percepts must be equivalent.
