[Interpretation/Lower Section/Affect] Affect

Aliases

  • affect
  • emotion

Definition

Affect gathers the variables used to read how emotion is experienced, modulated, and expressed in the protocol. This section is usually reviewed through FC:CF+C, Pure C, SumC / WSumC, Afr, S, Blends:R, and CP.

Interpretation

  • FC:CF+C helps estimate whether feeling is more formally modulated or more directly discharged.
  • Pure C, SumC / WSumC, and CP help show intensity and style of affective expression.
  • Afr helps estimate how readily the person approaches or withdraws from emotionally loaded stimulation.
  • S and Blends:R add information about opposition, complexity, and mixed affective states.

Cautions

  • Affect variables should not be read apart from Core, Mediation, and total protocol size.
  • Mild elevation in one variable does not by itself prove affective dyscontrol.
  • With low R, several affect ratios are less stable.
