Aliases
- Afr
- Affective Ratio
Definition
Afr compares responses given to cards VIII, IX, and X with responses given to cards I through VII.
In interpretation, it is used to estimate how readily the person approaches or withdraws from stimulation with stronger affective or chromatic tone.
Interpretation
- If
Afris low, there may be less readiness to approach emotionally loaded situations. - If
Afris high, there may be greater openness to emotionally salient stimulation. - Its meaning improves when it is read with
EB,Lambda, and the broader style of affective expression. - Under recent stress,
Afrcan temporarily drop.
Cautions
- If total responses are low, the ratio can fluctuate too much.
- High
Afrdoes not by itself mean healthy affective functioning, and lowAfrdoes not automatically mean pathological avoidance. - Card-by-card productivity differences should also be checked before drawing strong conclusions.
