Definition

FC:CF+C is displayed as FC : (CF + C + Cn), with each occurrence counted equally. It expresses how form and color are combined across chromatic color responses. In interpretation, it helps estimate whether emotion is more formally modulated or more directly discharged.

Interpretation

• If FC dominates, affective expression is usually more controlled and shaped by formal modulation.
• If CF+C dominates, feeling may be expressed more directly, immediately, or with less modulation.
• A more balanced pattern suggests a mix of control and direct expression.
• This ratio says more about style of emotional expression than about total emotional quantity.

Cautions

• When there are only a few color responses, the ratio is less stable.
• A stronger CF+C side should not by itself be treated as proof of pathology or impulsive acting out.
• Pure C may show a more direct affective discharge that is not fully captured by this ratio.
• Cn is included only on the displayed ratio's right side. It is excluded from WSumC, the separate S-CON comparison CF+C > FC, and the Color-Shading blend count.
