[Interpretation/Special Indices] DEPI

Aliases

  • DEPI
  • Depression Index
  • depression index

Definition

DEPI is a composite index that summarizes how many signs in the protocol point toward depressive features. It integrates variables from affect, burden, negative self-image, and emotional withdrawal.

Interpretation

  • If DEPI is positive, discouragement, hopelessness, guilt, and loss of energy should be reviewed more closely.
  • The index gains meaning when it appears together with SumV, SumY, MOR_self, and altered Afr.
  • It may suggest a probable depressive pattern, but it does not by itself define a major depressive episode.
  • If CDI is also positive, vulnerability may be mixed with a stronger sense of helplessness.

Cautions

  • A positive DEPI is not automatically a formal diagnosis.
  • A negative DEPI does not exclude depression.
  • Life context, grief, and recent stress can influence the constellation.

Cross References

  • The base variables should be reviewed before fixing a clinical conclusion.
  • It should be integrated with Affect, SumV, SumY, MOR_self, and CDI.
