Definition

Na is coded for a natural environment, natural phenomenon, or general nature setting that is not better coded as botany or a specific landscape.
The response points to "nature" as a whole rather than to one isolated object.

Conditions

  • Use it for the sun, moon, a planet, sky, water, ocean, lake, river, ice, snow, rain, fog, mist, rainbow, storm, tornado, night, or a raindrop.
  • The focus has to stay on the natural setting or phenomenon itself.
  • If Na appears together with scoring-input/contents/Bt or scoring-input/contents/Ls, code Na only; do not also code Bt or Ls.
  • If Na is absent but both Bt and Ls apply, choose only the one that best represents the response.
  • If the person describes a cloud, first reconsider scoring-input/contents/Cl; fog and mist are coded Na.

Cautions

  • Na takes priority over scoring-input/contents/Bt and scoring-input/contents/Ls; these three codes are not combined in one response.
  • Na is not used for a map; that belongs to scoring-input/contents/Ge.
  • An isolated botanical detail does not justify Na by itself if the response is not describing general nature.
