Definition

Content codes answer the question "what is it" that the person saw in the blot.
They do not explain why it looked that way; that belongs to determinants.

Conditions

  • Content is assigned from the object or class of object named by the person.
  • One response may receive more than one content code if the person truly describes more than one class of object.
  • Each content code is recorded only once within a response.
  • Human contents include scoring-input/contents/H, scoring-input/contents/(H), scoring-input/contents/Hd, scoring-input/contents/(Hd), and scoring-input/contents/Hx.
  • Animal and anatomy contents include scoring-input/contents/A, scoring-input/contents/(A), scoring-input/contents/Ad, scoring-input/contents/(Ad), and scoring-input/contents/An.
  • Art, cultural-historical, blood, and botanical contents are coded as scoring-input/contents/Art, scoring-input/contents/Ay, scoring-input/contents/Bl, and scoring-input/contents/Bt.
  • Clothing, cloud, explosion, and fire or smoke contents are coded as scoring-input/contents/Cg, scoring-input/contents/Cl, scoring-input/contents/Ex, and scoring-input/contents/Fi.
  • Food, geography, and household contents are coded as scoring-input/contents/Fd, scoring-input/contents/Ge, and scoring-input/contents/Hh.
  • Landscape, nature, science, sexual, X-ray, and idiographic contents are coded as scoring-input/contents/Ls, scoring-input/contents/Na, scoring-input/contents/Sc, scoring-input/contents/Sx, scoring-input/contents/Xy, and scoring-input/contents/Id.
  • These content codes later combine with additional decisions such as GHR/PHR, PureH, or H ratio.

Cautions

  • Content and determinant are different axes. A response may have human content and, at the same time, form, movement, or color determinants.
  • The human cluster has to separate whole realistic people, whole imaginary people, human details, imaginary human details, and human experience.
  • The animal cluster has to separate whole realistic animals, whole imaginary animals, animal details, imaginary animal details, and anatomy-focused responses.
  • The art/culture/basic nature cluster has to separate artistic objects, cultural-historical references, blood, and botanical material.
  • The clothing/atmospheric/event cluster has to separate garments, clouds, explosions, and fire/smoke.
  • The food/map/household cluster has to separate edible content, cartographic representation, and domestic objects.
  • The landscape/nature/science/sexual/X-ray/idiographic cluster has to separate scenery, general nature, scientific objects, explicit sexual content, X-ray format, and true last-resort idiographic content.
  • Hx does not code a whole person. It codes a clearly attributed human experience, feeling, or state.
  • An is not just any animal part; it requires an anatomical or internal-structure focus.
  • Art is not the same as Ay; one centers on artwork or decoration, and the other on cultural or historical reference.
  • Bl codes blood as content, not color as a determinant.
  • Cl, Ex, and Fi can look visually close, but they separate cloud, explosion, and fire/smoke content.
  • Fd as content is not the same as scoring-input/determinants/FD as a determinant.
  • If Na applies with Bt or Ls, record Na only. If Na is absent but both Bt and Ls apply, record only the one that best represents the response.
  • Xy is not simply another way to write An; when Xy is recorded, do not add An to the same response.
  • Id is a last resort and should not absorb responses that fit better under Sc or Art.
  • Human content by itself does not decide scoring-input/gphr/GHR or scoring-input/gphr/PHR; those require an additional coding step.
